Winter 2017 – Week 4

Hmm. Is it just me or is anime getting better?

I’m sorry. I know I’m wasting space here but that was honestly very, very catchy. I can’t get it off my head the day after, and I was humming it at work where my colleague just went ???.

Episode 4 feels more like a celebration of rakugo. With it finally showing signs of revival, and now I’m more lead to believe that Konatsu is where the female rakugo-ka will start making their ascent in the stage of storytelling. It kinda reminded me that Rakugo is, I guess, a historical retelling (albeit dramatized) of how rakugo came to, and considering that rakugo’s still up and kicking (in fact, some rakugo-ka visited the Philippines to do some rakugo a week ago!) perhaps we’ll see a happy ever after ending after all these clusterfuck the characters have been through? With that said, is Rakugo as story about rakugo? Is it a story of Kikuhiko, Yotaro or whoever? Whatever. All that matters is that I’m really loving this second season.

Little Witch Academia (TV) – Episode 4

It’s a Lotte episode, and it’s fun!

I may have a thing for people who are so passionate into something to the point that you can just see them brimming with enthusiasm when talking about it. I don’t know. It’s just amazing how someone can love something regardless of its ugly flaws, and that kinda reminds me of how I usually shrug off unconstructive criticisms toward a subject I love. It doesn’t really mean that I’m turning a blind eye or anything — being a fan doesn’t always necessarily means that you have to be on constant dismissal of the backlash and whatnot. While I don’t really mind sound arguments examining, say, an anime from head to toe, it still doesn’t change the fact that no matter how awfully bad a show is to anyone else, it’s still something that I came to appreciate because of its personal value — it became a part of me, and insulting that won’t make me mad because… well, it doesn’t matter what you say about it, and I’m the only one who truly knows myself anyways.

Sure, examining an anime from a technical perspective may explain how this and that resonated with you/how you interpret it — and can even lead the viewer into appreciating it even more — but, I think that certain uniqueness with the time you became involved with a subject is something that’s exclusive to you — you’re the only one who know how important and valuable it is. So yeah, I don’t partake much in contentious discussions and it’s also one reason why I feel more liberated with giving my opinions here in this blog. If you say that my favorite anime is shit; then sure — I don’t care, and neither does proving why it is shit will change my opinion of it — I’ll just laugh it off like Lotte.

A weird thing I also find relatable to Lotte is her ability to “speak” to old stuff’s fairies. I mean, it sounds sketchy to me when I remember myself as a kid doing the same thing. I ain’t exactly talking to stuff, but I just felt like these things must have feelings or something back then. Like that time when I saw a plastic bag flying to nowhere after being discarded by its owner, I asked myself how that poor lil guy must’ve felt. Yeah, I was a weird kid. I’m not making up things here, mind you.

Tales of Zestiria the X Season 2 – Episode 4

Damn it. I wish I could just press X to skip those dialogues. ToZX is honestly good but it drags too much with characters doing nothing but talk. Sure, I don’t mind verbally heavy narratives but I just feel like ToZX does too little with actually making those conversations meaningful, much less contribute to the overall impact of the climax. Whatever. Still an okay episode, I guess.

Demi-chan wa Kataritai – Episode 4

Woah. That was some serious drama. Okay episode, I guess. How’s Biology-sensei still keeping his job, though?

ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka – Episode 4

Heh, I don’t know what’s happening but I can’t seem to dislike this show. Jean being badass as ever and he even turned the tides in his favor just because he brought some magazines with him. Awesome.

Seiren – Episode 4

Bunny roleplay a thing now? And what the hell is a human girlfriend?

This first arc is… really weird. Boy started liking girl because girl sat on his desk. Boy wanted to become cooler so he studied more. Boy met girl again at a cram school because girl got chased by DEERS (heh remember the deers in Seitokai?) after she got ditched by a friend dating a guy who’s into some rabbit eating carrot and celery fetish. Girl develops feelings for boy because he’s the first one to lend her his tracksuit. Blah blah blah they get together at a beach, kissed, and girl friendzones boy and kissed him again. Pooof~ 5 years later it’s a happy ever after ending. Seiren/10. Will not watch again.

Weekly Weekly-chan

Quite a hectic week for me at work. My boss is hinting at my promotion, and that’s bad news. Promotion translates to more work, and that equates to less incentives/monies for me. I knew that if I accepted the new post, I’d have to commit myself to my job even more, and I honestly am not planning on staying with the job I have — plus there’s still my studies to consider. Oh well… sucks to be good at what I do. I guess we’ll just see how it pans out the following months.
